Best Built Project Award win for Cockermouth Community Hospital

e-LIFT Cumbria is delighted to be celebrating Cockermouth Community Hospital's success this week; winning the Best Built Project accolade at this years Architects for Health Design Awards.

Described as a ‘really wonderful design’ by the judges, this £10m, 4,000sqm development, commissiong by e-LIFT Cumbria and delivered in collaboration with Community Health Partnerships (head tenant of the building) was completed last July and signalled a new beginning for a recovering community after the town was hit by floods five years ago.

Leading model of integrated healthcare

The building's design actively encourages collaborative working between departments through the use of flexible, multi-functional spaces; clearly reflecting the aspiration to promote an integrated healthcare model.

In addition to housing GP and dental practices, Cockermouth Community Hospital, also delivers excellent imaging and inpatient facilities.

The win comes just two months after the hospital was officially opened by Sir Bruce Keogh, NHS England Medical Director at a ceremony also attended by Dr Sue O’Connell.
