Central Canvey Primary Care Centre, south east Essex, opened its doors to its first patients yesterday after The Island Surgery (Dr Jena & Dr Ana Linacero) and Dr Chaudhury's practice moved in.
Three more GP practices - Grafton surgery, Leigh Beck surgery and Oaklands surgery - are moving to the new centre in the next few weeks and will be up and running by the end of March. Each GP will have their own colour coded area so patients will be able to see the same GP, receptionists and other practice staff, but in a new purpose built primary care centre.
Mrs Mara, a local resident said: "I think it's beautiful. Everything is nice and new. It is much better than anywhere else we have on the island. There are different colours so you know where to go. It's the best surgery we have around here."
Ann Mortimer, primary care centre manager at NHS South East Essex is delighted to take on her new role as centre manager. She said: "It's a fabulous building, light, airy and comfortable and it is easy to find your way around. It makes it so much easier for patients with so many services all on one site. A few people have already popped in to have a look around and the feedback has been very positive."
The other GPs moving into Central Canvey Primary Care Centre are:
Grafton surgery - Drs Brown, Wong, Noorah & Boullon-Agrelo
Leigh Beck surgery - Dr Sodipo
Oaklands surgery - Dr Kamdar, Dr Mujahid, Dr Patel, Dr Rai & Dr Swami
