Pioneering health and community developer Citycare has received planning permission to develop a new purpose-built health and community centre in west Hull and is inviting local residents and businesses to an event to find out more about the proposals.
The state-of -the-art development, which would be the twelfth such scheme to be delivered in Hull by Citycare, is proposed to be built on a 2.6 acre site on Walcott Street, off Hessle Road and would provide a base for modern primary care and community-based services.
Local people are invited to view visuals of the development and meet the team delivering the project at a drop-in information event being held at the Boulevard Corner Cafe Bar on Monday 23rd May between 6pm and 8pm.
The proposed new health centre would see the relocation of services from three existing health centres to modern, purpose built facilities at the heart of one of the city's busiest shopping and residential areas.
Jo Barnes, chief executive of Citycare, said: "We are delighted that plans for this cutting edge development have been approved and are looking forward to further engaging with members of the local community at the information event. This is a building that could transform the healthcare offer in this area and it is important local people play their part.
"The scheme we have developed maximises efficiency for the public sector and incorporates sustainability measures throughout all aspects of its construction and operation. I also believe that we have managed to achieve these critical objectives whilst designing an attractive building that incorporates the comments and feedback of local people from earlier periods of consultation.
"Citycare's track record of delivering these kinds of developments speaks for itself. We have already completed nine similar schemes in key locations across the city, with our tenth, Wilberforce Health Centre in the city centre, due for completion later this year, and our eleventh, Bransholme Health Centre progressing well after construction work started in January."
