Citycare LIFTCo - Wilberforce Health Centre Shortlisted for Two RICS Awards

Citycare is delighted to announce that Wilberforce Health Centre has been shortlisted for two Pro Yorkshire Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors Awards (RICS).

The prestigious awards showcase the most inspirational regional initiatives and developments in land in property, construction and the environment.

The flagship city centre facility has made it through to the final stages in the 'Regeneration' category, which recognises projects that have acted as a catalyst for wider urban or rural improvements, and 'Design and Innovation' which acknowledges how design and creativity in a development has increased end user satisfaction. Independent panels will be visiting the health centre in the coming weeks ahead of the Awards Ceremony on Friday 11th May at Leeds United Football Club where the winning projects will be announced.

Wilberforce Health Centre was designed, developed and delivered by Hull Citycare Ltd. on behalf of their client NHS Hull, as part of the national LIFT Programme. Commenting on the news, Jo Barnes, Citycare Chief Executive said:

"Individuals who work and use the facilities in the building were influential in the design stages and Sewell Group as lead contractor worked hard to keep local residents and businesses fully informed throughout the process; it's something local people deserve and should be very proud of. We're delighted that the health centre has been recognised through making onto the RICS shortlist."

Chris Long, Chief Executive, NHS Humber Cluster said:

"Pooling together such an assorted range of health and community services into one multi-purpose facility was a major challenge for Citycare, but the team's vision and thorough understanding of individual tenant and client needs has led to the design and construction of a flagship building that serves the diverse range of clientele to an exceptional standard."

The £16.5m health centre opened its doors to the public in November 2012 and is already drawing footfall to the area. It is intended that c60,000 visitors a year will attend the centre and make use of surrounding facilities.

Project Manager Mark Dodgson, Sewell Group said:

"It's great to hear that Wilberforce Health Centre is being recognised by such prestigious national bodies. It's a great facility and its design and layout showcases the services that are housed inside very well. The wider impacts on regeneration in the area are also becoming more and more apparent now the centre has been open to the public a number of months."
