Healthcare infrastructure investment and property management company, wholly owned by the Department of Health and Social Care, Community Health Partnerships is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Geraldine Strathdee CBE, Cha Patel and Bob Alexander as its Non-Executive Directors (NED). They join Chairman John Bacon and existing NED, Bernadette Conroy, providing company oversight and strategic leadership. Geraldine and Cha began three-year terms on the 1st March 2019, and Bob starts on 1st April 2019.
Chairman, John Bacon said: “I am delighted to welcome Geraldine, Cha and Bob to CHP’s Board. All three bring a wealth of knowledge and experience from senior roles in the NHS and private sector. Their fresh view of our business and depth of understanding of the NHS will be a great asset to the Board. I look forward to working with them.”
The new appointments replace departing NEDs, Sir Sam Everington and Nigel Beer (finishes end of July 2019) as they come to the end of their tenures and fills an existing vacancy. The successful appointments followed a recruitment process led by Dr Sue O’Connell, Chief Executive.

CHP is in a unique position to support the NHS estate transformation and delivery of the Long Term Plan through its investment and asset management capabilities. The experience and insight of our NEDs will be crucial as we continue to add value to our health and care partners.”
Geraldine Strathdee CBE is a consultant psychiatrist and has held senior roles in mental health policy, regulation and clinical management, at national and London regional levels.
Geraldine said: “I am very pleased to be joining CHP’s Board. There is great value in the skills and investment the company and its people deliver to the NHS. I hope to use my insight and experience working at senior and national levels in the NHS to support CHP to continue to make improvements and demonstrate the benefit it brings to patients, staff and local populations.”
Cha Patel has held senior positions in healthcare, commercial, not-for-profit and social sectors. She is currently Deputy Chair of Bromley Healthcare and Non-Executive Director at Gateway Housing Association.
Cha said: “I am passionate about supporting the NHS transformation. I see great benefit in CHP’s work in facilitating and enabling change in local communities through its estates solutions. I am thrilled to join its Board and share my experience and skills.”
Bob Alexander is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy with a wide range of Board experience within the public and independent sectors at national, regional and local level. He is currently the Independent Chair of Surrey and Sussex Sustainability and Transformation Partnership (STP).
Bob said: “I am delighted to be joining the Board at time of change and opportunity. I look forward to working with John, Sue and the wider team to deliver CHP’s Strategic Plan and sustain its continued success.”
