Handover for Cleator Moor NHS LIFT Project

Handover of the new £6.5m Health Centre at Cleator Moor successfully took place as programmed on Monday 22nd April.

Robertson Construction NEE Limited began construction of the Health Centre in May 2012 and the work has involved extensive use of locally based suppliers and subcontractors.

Staff from the Fellview Healthcare Practice, Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and the Cumbria Commissioning Group who will all be providing services in the new building came together with representatives of Community Health Partnerships (CHP) as CHP took possession of the centre from the developer, eLIFT Cumbria Limited (eLC).

Gary Naylor, General Manager of eLC said: “We are delighted to have reached this significant milestone. Cleator Moor Health Centre is a great example of what can be achieved through effective partnership working, and I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to the project. We look forward to continuing to work in partnership with CHP and wish them well in their new premises.”

Mark Day, CHP Executive Director commented: “CHP‘s aim is to create modern, high quality facilities that help to improve the health and wellbeing of local people.  When it opens, I am certain that Cleator Moor Health Centre will achieve that aim and be valued by both patients and the health care professionals who will work there.”

Dr David Rogers, Copeland Locality GP Commissioning Lead said: “Cleator Moor has long been in need of good quality health facilities; the new facilities provided by the new Health Centre will support the delivery of first class services to the local population.”

Following handover the NHS will start to install specialist clinical equipment and IT systems and the JN Murrays pharmacy be fitted out. When the health centre becomes operational at the end of May it will provide a wide range of services including GP, dental and physiotherapy services.

The development has been funded and delivered through the NHS Express LIFT (Local Improvement Finance Trust) programme.
