Industry praise 'LIFT' success as 2010 Award Winners Announced

Local Government and the new health minister heralded the success of the LIFT programme in continuing to secure integrated services that transform the health and well-being of communities at an evening hosted by comedian Rufus Hound on Thursday the 8th of July.

Simon Burns MP, Minister of State for Health, praised LIFT for 'all of the work that partners up and down the country have done over the past few years.'

Mr Burns added: ' The days of the big state are numbered and it will be down to those local partnerships to deliver the needs of the communities they serve in a local, adaptable and accountable manner.'

Warren Taylor, Chair of the LIFT Awards Steering Committee said: "The winners of the 2010 LIFT Awards have emphasized the breadth of partnership working and innovation taking place within the LIFT community. This underlines the adaptable nature of the LIFT model how it has and will continue to evolve to changing policy needs."

There were a high number of entries from LIFTCos, public and private sector partners from across England, with over 70 applications applying for 11 categories. The judges came from a range of public and private sector organisations, with a broad spectrum of knowledge and expertise.

Descriptions of all the winning entries can be found in a special LIFT Awards supplement (3mb pdf) - in partnership with the Health Service Journal (www.hsj.co.uk) and the Local Government Chronicles (www.lgcplus.com)
