Leicester LIFT - Completion of £3.5m De Montford Surgery

Leicester LiftCo reached practical completion on the first of its Tranche 2 projects on 27th May. The £3.5million De Montfort Surgery replaces the existing building situated within the De Montfort University complex and provides enhanced facilities including a range of primary healthcare services, general and enhanced medical services, minor surgery, sexual health clinics, therapy services, outpatient's clinics and a range of diagnostic services. The surgery has a Gross Internal Floor Area of 1,454m2 and is design to accommodate the transient peak patient demand of 16,000 during term time while, by the use of a fully flexible design, maximising room utilisation outside peak term demand.

The De Montfort Surgery becomes the LiftCo's 6th operational building and is the first building that has been specifically designed to meet the most recent challenging sustainable and energy targets with an air-tightness well above that expected in current building regulations and the full use of passive solar shading and roof mounted photo-voltaic solar energy roof panels that generate 10% of the buildings electrical energy demand on site.

The LiftCo's 7th building and second Tranche 2 project, (The £4.9million Belgrave Health Centre) is due for completion on the 15th July 2011.
