The people of Salford will this week celebrate the official opening of Pendleton Gateway.
The centre, developed by MaST LIFTCo, cost £16.5 million, sports two GP practices, a library and specialist children's facility. It has already received rave reviews from the public with over 90% of users claiming to be very satisfied with the facility and over 85% of service users finding the new centre useful.
Lord Keith Bradley, Chairman of Mast Lift Company, said: "MaST LIFT Co is a true partnership between public and private sectors. Pendleton Gateway demonstrates enhanced, integrated public services in a stunning fit for purpose facility leading the way in innovation. The response of the community through significantly increased usage numbers from improved accessibility is a vindication of the investment in this joint service facility. MaST LIFT Co has a track record of delivering high quality, value for money and affordable facilities with Pendleton Gateway being the twelfth facility opened in five years."
Councillor John Merry, Leader of Salford City Council added: "This centre is a wonderful example of partnership working at its best. The local community were involved in all stages of the project, and I am enormously proud of what we have all achieved together.
"This is more than a resource centre or a place where people can get to the services they need, it is a focal point for the community and I am delighted it has been taken to people's hearts so quickly."
Mike Burrows, CEO, NHS Salford said: "We are delighted to officially open this flagship Gateway centre and it's fantastic to see what an impact the centre has had already. Whilst this was a great team effort, I feel that special praise must go to our development partners, the Mast Lift Company, for delivering this excellent facility on time and to the high standards that people in Salford deserve."
Clive Pitt CEO MaST LIFT Co said: "The tremendous success of this scheme in Pendleton, along with Walkden and Eccles has inspired an ambition to improve services even further. Going forward we and our partners are ready to rise to the challenge of delivering the correct solutions for providers and commissioners in the current market place and playing our part in improving the health outcomes of the communities we serve. MaST LIFTCo have now made a £90m investment in public services, the creation of local jobs and improving the health in some of the region's most deprived communities."
