Oldham LIFT - Chadderton Wellbeing Centre Shortlisted in Prestigious RICS Awards

The Chadderton Wellbeing Centre, developed by LIFT company Community 1st Oldham, has been shortlisted in the RICS North West Awards in two categories: Sustainability and Community Benefit. Known as the region's property 'Oscars', the awards celebrate the most inspirational regional initiatives and developments in land, property, construction and the environment.

The unique Local Authority commissioned LIFT Centre, opened in November 2009, and is home to a range of community facilities including a swimming pool, library, fitness suite, dance studio and cafe and incorporates a range of innovative sustainability features including a combined heat and power generating system powered by a bio-fuel manufactured from waste used cooking oil (provided by Green2Go), a rainwater harvesting system which provides water for use in the centre and innovative salt water purification system as an alternative to chlorine for the swimming pool.

The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on 6th May in Manchester.
