Opening of Penntorr Health signals new level of improved patient care

Development of Penntorr Health in Torpoint is now complete, with the first range of health and community services already delivering services to local residents.

In pride of place at the new centre are the Rame Group Practice surgeries and Hooper Street health clinic.  Further facilities include a minor surgery unit, an ambulance dispatch room, pharmacy, district nursing and health visitors and speech therapy.

Responding to local needs

The £2m Penntorr Health project has been delivered by Public Private Partnership (LIFT Company), Community 1st Cornwall, in partnership with NHS Kernow, Peninsula Community Health and Community Health Partnerships.

The project’s initial conception was the result of a wide-ranging service review and public engagement exercise which identified the significant benefits of integrating a range of services together in one purpose-built, multi-function facility.

Exciting change in delivery of healthcare

General Manager of Community 1st Cornwall, Ken Jones explains: “Penntorr Health marks an exciting change in the way health services are delivered to the people of Torpoint.

“We are thrilled to be part of such an important project and see local people having access to top quality health services all under one roof.”

Bringing care closer to home

Antek Lejk, Executive Director at Community Health Partnerships adds: “The opening of Penntorr Health marks the beginning of a new level of improved patient care for residents of Torpoint.

“This modern, spacious, multi-function facility is capable of delivering a wide ranger of health services in the community, meaning that more patients will be seen, diagnosed and treated closer to home.”
