South West Hampshire LIFT commemorated the handover of its first project - the Adelaide Health Centre, Millbrook-with an event on the 9th of October. Held in the atrium of the new centre, the event attracted over 70 delegates who came to see the finished result of a 17-month building programme. Those in attendance represented SWH LIFT's stakeholder organisations and many of the companies within its supply chain.
The purpose of the event was to celebrate the successful partnership between all of the LIFT stakeholders, which has led to a striking and innovative building, capable of yielding efficiencies and enhancing service delivery which will benefit NHS Southampton City and the local community for years to come.
Senior members from the key organisations- Osborne, SWH LIFT and NHS Southampton City- were invited to speak and all were keen to emphasise that partnership working was instrumental to the successful handover of the facilities. SWH LIFT presented NHS Southampton City with a special key during the event honouring the on-time and on-budget handover of the building.
Following the presentation, delegates were invited to tour the new facility and see first-hand the high standard of the construction and design throughout the building. Delegates also viewed the freshly completed artwork in the main atrium, which is planned to be extended throughout the building.
"The Adelaide Health Centre will create the opportunity for members of the community to receive a range of services in one convenient location," stated Bob Deans, Chief Executive of NHS Southampton City. "All of the services provided by the Adelaide Health Centre will offer improved healthcare to the Millbrook community, as well as Southampton as a whole, and we look forward to offering these services in the near future. The modern, state-of-the-art building has been built in co-operation with local residents and our colleagues from SWHL, and I am pleased that we were able to mark the special occasion of the building's handover through this event."
