Tees LIFT - GPs move into £20m One Life Hartlepool

One Life Hartlepool is a new integrated care centre which will bring care closer to the community by providing a range of health services in a convenient town centre location.

The state-of-the-art facility in Park Road will house three existing GP practices as well as a pharmacy, respiratory unit for chronic chest problems, an assessment area for back and leg problems, a podiatric unit, dedicated dental suites and an audiology clinic.

An additional wing is also being constructed to house a day surgery facility and a minor injuriesunit which is planned to open later in the year.

Havelock Grange Surgery (Dr Acey and partners), which is currently based in Victoria Road andGrange Road, will be the first GP practice to relocate to the new £20m facility and will operatefrom the new venue as of Monday 10 May.

It will be open from 8.30am to 6pm Monday to Friday. Evening appointments will be available onrequest and Saturday appointments can be booked at its branch practice. Bankhouse Surgery (Dr Downs and partners) will move from its current site in Victoria Road on Monday 17 May.

Chadwick House Surgery (Dr Brash and partners), which is currently based in York Road, will be the final practice to transfer its services on Monday 24 May. Its opening hours will be 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday. Early morning and Saturday appointments will also be available on request.

One Life Hartlepool is part of the momentum: pathways to healthcare project which has three key elements. These include a series of projects to look at which services can be moved from hospital into the community or even into people's homes; a number of integrated care centres and enhanced GP premises and a new hospital at Wynyard which is due to open in 2015.
